Privacy Policy

Zabber ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that adds an anonymous community comments section to Zillow listing pages. This policy explains exactly what data Zabber handles. Zabber is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Zillow.

What Zabber stores

When you post a comment, Zabber sends the following to its backend server and stores it: the text of your comment, an optional display name you choose to type (blank is attributed to "Anonymous"), and the identifier of the Zillow listing the comment is attached to. That is all of the content Zabber stores.

No accounts, no personal information

Zabber has no login, no sign-up, and no user accounts. It does not ask for, collect, or store your name (beyond an optional display name you freely type), email address, phone number, precise location, browsing history, or any financial information.

IP addresses

To prevent spam and abuse (rate limiting, de-duplicating likes and reports, and moderation), the backend computes a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address combined with a secret salt. Only this irreversible hash is stored. Zabber does not store your raw IP address, and the stored hash cannot be reversed back into your IP address.

Cookies and tracking

Zabber sets no cookies, uses no analytics, and does not track you across sites. It runs only on Zillow listing pages and communicates only with Zabber's own backend.

Local storage

Zabber stores a couple of non-personal technical values in your browser's local storage: a small "last known good" hint that keeps the interface working as Zillow updates its pages, and a private delete token for each comment you post, so you can later delete your own comment. Neither leaves your device except as part of normal comment requests, and neither contains personal information.

Deleting your comments

You can delete a comment you posted from the same browser you posted it in, using the Delete control that appears on your own comments. To request removal of any other comment, contact the address below.

Content moderation

To keep listings free of spam and abuse, comments that are reported by users may be reviewed automatically. As part of that review, the text of a reported comment and its optional display name may be sent from Zabber's backend to a third-party AI provider for the sole purpose of classifying whether the comment breaks the rules. That content is used only to make the moderation decision; it is not used to build a profile of you, is not tied to your identity (Zabber has none), and is not sold.

Sharing and selling

Zabber does not sell your data. Apart from the automated moderation described above, the only data transfer is between your browser and Zabber's own backend server, for the sole purpose of displaying and storing comments.

Children

Zabber is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
